Omniq
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
1. Who We Are
Omniq (“Omniq,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an AI-powered meeting, lecture, and conversation assistant that records audio, transcribes it, and generates AI summaries, notes, action items, and insights. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Omniq, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information: name, email address, password, organization (optional), and profile type.
- Audio recordings: audio you choose to record within the app.
- Content you create: session titles, notes, chat messages with the AI assistant, and edits you make to transcripts and action items.
- Chat attachments: photos and files you choose to share in the AI chat.
- Voice input: audio captured when you use the microphone in chat, used solely to convert your speech to text.
- Support communications: information you send us when you contact support.
2.2 Information generated by the Service
- Transcripts created from your recordings.
- AI-generated content: summaries, key points, decisions, action items, insights, and speaker labels.
- Usage records: session counts, chat message counts, export counts, and storage usage, used to operate plan limits.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device and app information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, and time zone.
- Diagnostic data: error logs and crash reports used to fix problems.
- Push notification token: a device identifier used to deliver notifications you have enabled, stored with your profile.
2.4 Payment information
Subscriptions are billed through Apple. We do not collect or store your credit card number. We receive limited, non-financial information from Apple and our subscription-management provider (such as whether your subscription is active) to unlock Pro features. If you apply a student discount, we use your .edu email address solely to verify discount eligibility.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide the core Service: record, transcribe, summarize, and organize your sessions.
- Operate your account and enforce plan limits.
- Improve reliability, fix bugs, and develop new features.
- Communicate with you about the Service, including service notifications you have enabled.
- Protect the security and integrity of the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do NOT sell your personal information. We do NOT use the content of your recordings, transcripts, notes, or chats to serve you advertising.
4. How Your Audio and Content Are Processed
To provide the Service, your content is processed by trusted third-party providers acting on our behalf:
- Supabase — account authentication and secure storage of your profile, sessions, transcripts, notes, and related data.
- OpenAI (Whisper) — your audio is transmitted to OpenAI to generate transcriptions.
- Anthropic (Claude) — your transcripts and chat messages are transmitted to Anthropic to generate summaries, action items, insights, and chat responses.
- AssemblyAI — your session audio is transmitted to AssemblyAI to identify and label different speakers.
- Apple and RevenueCat — subscription billing and entitlement management.
Photos, files, and voice input you share in chat are transmitted to the relevant providers above (OpenAI for voice-to-text; Anthropic for chat attachments) solely to provide the feature you requested.
These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide their services to us and are bound by their own security and privacy obligations. Audio and content are transmitted using encryption in transit.
5. Recording Consent — Your Responsibility
Omniq records audio only when you start a recording. Laws about recording conversations vary by state and country. Some jurisdictions require the consent of ALL participants before a conversation may be recorded (including, for example, Florida and California). YOU are solely responsible for complying with all applicable recording and wiretapping laws and for obtaining any required consent from every participant before recording. Omniq is a tool; we do not monitor what you record and we are not responsible for recordings made in violation of applicable law.
6. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
- Your data is stored using industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest, and access controls that restrict data access to your authenticated account.
- Session history is retained according to your plan (7 days on the Free plan; up to 1 year on Pro), after which it may be automatically deleted.
- Recorded audio files are stored locally on your device; deleting the app or its data from your device deletes locally stored audio.
- When you delete a session, its transcript, notes, action items, and insights are deleted from our systems. Limited usage records (for example, that a session was recorded this month) are retained solely to operate plan limits.
- When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted from our systems, except where retention is required by law.
- No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
When you use export or share features, you direct your content to destinations you choose (such as your device’s files, email, or third-party apps). Once exported, that content is governed by the receiving service’s terms and privacy practices, not ours.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your information (you can delete individual sessions in the app, or your entire account in Profile → Delete Account).
- Export your content (using the in-app export features).
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
European Economic Area / UK users (GDPR): our legal bases for processing are performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), our legitimate interests (securing and improving the Service), and your consent where required (such as microphone access). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California users (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA. You have the right to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app tools or contact us at support@getomniq.ai.
8. Children’s Privacy
Omniq is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us at support@getomniq.ai and we will delete it.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the current version.
